ITS a roller

got the frame fixed tonight..

I've decided that blasting will have to wait..

having it blasted now seems silly since I have so much to do on top of it..

so.. you just spent BIG $$ to buy a project car

what do you do first??

Cut it in half!

Unloaded!

The project was home but a few hours before "inventory" began..

when the side door swung open I quickly realized there were some familiar sticks of wood milling about..

while the majority of the pattern wood for the 36 was stashed in the front of the trailer..

these were amidst the mix.

turns out that a good deal of 1940 ford wood was also in the trailer.. because the 2nd chassis (which I'll build the car off of) was from a 1940 ford woodie..)

needless to say.. the further I dug.. the happier I was...

finding these rear fenders:

was certainly a blessing. (even in their condition)

and of course.. the first look at this.. was promising

thanks

I am perhaps the luckiest guy alive..

Earlier this fall (at hershey) I managed to buy a pair of 36 ford woodie wagon quarter panels..

after finding the quarters, and having enjoyed my 40 wagon this year, I decided that perhaps I should try to find a 36 wagon project.

I searched high and low.. and "left no stone unturned"

then about 3 weeks ago.. I get an email from TIM, who is a hamber (and friend) from Texas..

Tim had noticed my post about the 36 ford woodie quarters, and mentioned that he wouldn't be getting to his 36 woodie wagon project anytime soon. As a result.. he wondered if I would be able to use it..

he was even good enough to send this teaser photo.

apparently the car had come out of CT, in the spring of 2009.

the problem.. of course.. was getting the car here from Texas.. shipping costs were an issue, and once the car was here.. where would I put it?

then he sent this photo.. and I decided I needed a trailer too.

luckily the trailer was available, (at a good price) and as luck would have it, Tim was planning to head to Vermont for Thanksgiving.. he could bring the car, and trailer if I was interested..

we struck a deal.. and last night I met tim about an hour from home to do the handoff.. 30 minutes later i was headed home with something new to be thankful for..

because it was dark when I got home I didn't get a good look inside..
i knew the project came with a second frame.. (what i was told to have come out from under a 40 ford woodie)

and this is what greeted me when I unloaded this afternoon.

what I didn't realize, and what Tim failed to mention, was that in addition to the 36 woodie wood there was a good deal of 40 ford woodie wood also included in the deal..

some of which.. will be used to replace the wood on my 40!

Thanks TIM..

Future Trailer Queen?

Bought a trailer tonight..

On the way home I decided to grab a snack at one of the new sonic drive in's that have popped up in the area..

the place smelled like rice...

FOUND!

At a swap meet this fall..

I located these..

could they be the beginnings of a new project?

or just cool art..

either is FINE.
